Foyer is an association formed in 2022. It consists of a cross disciplinary community with a shared hope of creating a space for art. We would like to create a platform to establish the possibility of awakening pleasure, play, and most of all curiosity in a meeting with art. Foyer is nonprofit exhibition platform.

The exhibition space experience begins as the doors open on the street level of Park Bio. An elegant stair and vestibule from 1926 create a frame to invite one in to view the art while on the way to other experiences or alternatively as an experience in and of itself.

Foyer would like to curate with a free spirit where a broad pallet of media can join in site-specific installations. Contemporary art will manifest itself in the spaces of Foyer with 4 yearly exhibitions based on a yearly international open call.

With a point of departure in the site-specific exhibitions Foyer wants to create windows to artistic perspectives in an informal room. This will create an opportunity for discussions and experiences in a meeting with contemporary art, a pause, that can contribute to awaken individuals, promote curiosity and open for thought processes.

In addition, we would like to invite an audience to artist talks and performances in this platform.

The space will be open for the public. Foyer presents itself to the local community, Copenhagen and art lovers in general. All age groups are welcome to enter this space without any admission price.

Foyer is an independent exhibition space that is located in Park Bio, Østerbro, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Private and local actors contribute to the promotion of art through donations and sponsorships

Park Bio hosts the exhibition space for openings and events.

    -Experiences

    -Room for thought

    -Curatorial thinking

-An opportunity for artists to unfold work in a playful approach on site.

    About the curator

Hesselholdt & Mejlvang are a Danish artist duo who began working as a collective in 1999. Their practice is focused on site-specific, large-scale installations that investigate concepts of collective identity, and how these inform and are affected by socio-political structures. Rooted in extensive research as an integral modus operandi, their work often incorporates performance and active use of the public space. Site-specificity plays an important role, whether manifested outdoors or in a venue like an LED truck, an embassy, a remote forest, a newspaper, as a tattoo or inside an art institution.

Hesselholdt & Mejlvang have exhibited widely in institutions, galleries and public spaces internationally. Recent solo exhibitions include EMMA Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Finland; IZOLYATSIA, Kyiv, Ukraine; Turku Art Museum, Finland; Uppsala Art Museum, Sweden; SKMU, Norway; Thorvaldsens Museum, Copenhagen, Denmark; KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, Denmark; Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen, Denmark; Oslo Kunstforening, Norway; Platform Arts, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Their works have been shown at Manifesta 12, Palermo, Italy; Geological Museum of Mexico City; Biennial of Art in Pančevo, Serbia; MMCA Residency Changdong, Seoul, Korea; Tallinn Art Hall, Estonia; ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Denmark; Copenhagen Contemporary, Denmark; Mumbai Art Room, India; Museumcultuur Strombeek, Brussels, Belgium; Künstlerhaus Bregenz, Austria and The Ski Club Milwaukee, USA.
