FOYERcontemporary presents the first exhibition at LakeHouse-Nørrebro-cph.
"Desire Me Anew, in the Image of You" by Faun Vium. The works explores the myth of the mare.These blood-sucking, riding, and dangerous nightmare creatures disturb the dreamers but their myth also render the erotic dream and free feminine desire monstrous. Taking inspiration from the surrealist Leonor Fini’s 1982 lithograph Voyeur, Vium seeks to blur the traditional notions of the mares a sinister nocturnal wanderer— Vium uses this motif to explore feminine desire in a trans body, addressing what happens to desire when the body changes form.
The exhibition features several sculptural costumes, which can be experienced on the ground floor, as well as a video work that translates Fini’s piece into a personal portrait of Vium’s own relationship.
Opening: The exhibition opens with a performance in which Vium herself presents the performance "Desire Me Anew, in the Image of You" in the foyer on the first floor. Several of the exhibition’s sculptural elements are integrated into the performance, and the audience is invited by the artist to step into the works through communal singing and a shared toast.

A site specific exhibition presented exploring complex themes of beauty and stigmatisation of trauma through a series of staged photographs and video pieces which challenge our traditional perceptions.
In Hjort’s Di Fabio photographic works one can see a series of ”beasts” which are all posing for a group portrait, in this setting the story is a cut out where the beast emerges as the beauty.

Liesel Burisch welcome.
Two work is showcased; The important and impressive work of a two channel video which has been created in 2023 in Japan at the American military bases; the work explorers fundamental question of being a stranger, belonging, exchanging, appropriation and protection particularly of (trans)women and non-binary individuals, and a tufted work in a film poster format positioning the strength in a site specific art space. This exhibition delves into fresh perspectives on desiring, seeking to move beyond the confines of property-focused and limiting mindsets that often lead to exclusion.
"The Perfect Ikea Living Room" unfolds as a dual-tier installation at FOYER contemporary, immersing visitors in an exquisitely arranged display of IKEA's visually captivating furnishings. Nestled within this environment is a video montage featuring iconic Hollywood moments of near-kisses.

Toilet Science

Toiletphiles argue that civilization began not with the advent of written language but with the first toilet. Waste control allowed individuals to quit wandering the earth trying to escape their dung and finally settle down.
The speculative claim that is the documentary ‘Toilet Science’ asks the question “Could this be true?” by tracing a historical lineage of the flush toilet to better understand it as; an object of power, a religious artefact and as a site for innovation.

we are happy to welcome Sif Hedegård as the second artist to create a site specific installaion curated by Hesselholdt&Mejlvang for the programme 2023.
For the solo exhibition at FOYERcontemporary, Sif Hedegård has created an exhibition with an installation approach, consisting of ornate ornamented mirrors, abstract mannequins, and a series of robes as part of performative strategies that investigate identity and being.
Materials such as felt, plastic, cotton and paper are layered into shape.
With inspiration from the world of the film and the story of the inspired piece of clothing, as well as her own personal story, Sif Hedegård examines identity, fantasy, and bodily dimensions.
