“The Beast & the Beast “

A site specific exhibition presented exploring complex themes of beauty and stigmatisation of trauma through a series of staged photographs and video pieces which challenge our traditional perceptions.

In Hjort’s Di Fabio photographic works one can see a series of ”beasts” which are all posing for a group portrait, in this setting the story is a cut out where the beast emerges as the beauty.

Liesel Burisch welcome.

Two work is showcased; The important and impressive work of a two channel video which has been created in 2023 in Japan at the American military bases; the work explorers fundamental question of being a stranger, belonging, exchanging, appropriation and protection particularly of (trans)women and non-binary individuals, and a tufted work in a film poster format positioning the strength in a site specific art space. we are happy to welcome Sif Hedegård as the second artist to create a site specific installaion curated by Hesselholdt&Mejlvang for the programme 2023.

For the solo exhibition at FOYERcontemporary, Sif Hedegård has created an exhibition with an installation approach, consisting of ornate ornamented mirrors, abstract mannequins, and a series of robes as part of performative strategies that investigate identity and being.

Materials such as felt, plastic, cotton and paper are layered into shape.

With inspiration from the world of the film and the story of the inspired piece of clothing, as well as her own personal story, Sif Hedegård examines identity, fantasy, and bodily dimensions.
